FAQs and Price Information
Tended Mind Therapy holds the value of transparency and clarity. Please read below to see if any questions you may have are answered here.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just need someone to talk to, therapy might be a good fit. It's all about finding what works best for you if you are able to dedicate one hour per week or bi-weekly.

What can I expect during a therapy session?
Think of it as a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings. We'll chat, listen, and work together to find solutions and strategies.

How long does therapy typically last?
Sessions last around 50 minutes.

How often should I attend therapy sessions?
As a new client, I recommend weekly to start; research shows that starting weekly vs. every other week can improve symptoms and establish the therapeutic relationship faster. However, it varies from person to person. Some come weekly, while others prefer bi-weekly or monthly sessions. We'll find a schedule that works best for you

How do I choose the right therapist for me?
It's all about finding someone you feel comfortable with and who understands your needs. Trust your gut and take your time finding the right fit.

What types of issues or concerns do you specialize in treating?
I have experience working with a wide range of issues, from anxiety and depression to relationship struggles and life transitions. I specialize in Emotion-Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) which means I spend a good amount of time talking about childhood experiences and how they connect to current mental health issues.

Do you offer virtual therapy sessions or teletherapy?
Yes, absolutely! Virtual sessions provide the convenience of accessing therapy from the comfort of your own space. Currently I am able to offer therapy services to folks living in Colorado.

How much does therapy cost, and do you accept insurance?
At this time, I am able to accept Colorado Access (Medicaid) and out of pocket. Sessions are currently $140 per session. I am able to offer you a completed Superbill so you can potentially be reimbursed by your insurance. *Please refer to your out-of-network benefits under your insurance policy to ensure your insurance will reimburse you.

What is your approach to therapy?
I believe in a collaborative and client-centered approach, where we work together to identify goals and develop personalized strategies for growth. I strive to create a non-judgemental and comfortable space for you to explore your emotions and goals.

How can therapy help me with my mental health concerns?
Therapy can provide support, guidance, and practical tools to help you navigate and overcome challenges, whatever they may be. Sometimes, we just need a welcoming and compassionate space to communicate what's happening in our lives and with ourselves to feel validation and empowerment.

Is therapy confidential?
Absolutely. Your privacy and confidentiality are of the utmost importance. You can trust that our sessions are completely confidential. The limits to this are if you communicate with me any instances of active child abuse, elder abuse, threats to national security, and threats to harm yourself or others. I am transparent and direct when these instances occur, so you can trust that you will be notified of any instances where I will need to report.

What can I do if I'm not sure I can afford therapy?
I get it. Until therapy is subsidized and becomes a more accessible and universal service, many folks worry about the cost of therapy. My therapy sessions are priced below the industry standard in order to ensure accessibility. I also recommend calling your insurance company to ensure that they are able to receive Superbills and reimburse you for all or a portion of the cost.

How can I prepare for my first therapy session?
Just come as you are! Bring any questions or concerns you have, and we'll take it from there.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule an appointment?
Life happens, and I completely understand. Just let me know as soon as possible, and we can find another time that works for you.

Do you offer sliding scale fees or payment plans?
At this time, I am not offering sliding scale fees or payment plans.

What if I don't feel comfortable talking about certain topics in therapy?
That's completely okay. Therapy is a judgment-free zone, and we'll only explore what you're comfortable discussing. I work within a trauma-informed framework, which means you get to decide and consent to what we talk about and how specific we get.

How can therapy help with stress, anxiety, or depression?
Therapy can provide coping skills, support, and insights to help manage and alleviate symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression.

Can therapy help with relationship issues or family conflicts?
Absolutely. Therapy can provide a safe space to explore relationship dynamics, improve communication, and work through conflicts.

Are consultations necessary to start therapy with Tended Mind Therapy?
Yes. I utilize consultations to introduce myself, get to know you, and ask questions to ensure my services would be helpful to your mental health goals. These phone calls last about 15-20 minutes.

If I believe my services do not encompass the therapy you deserve, I will send you referrals that I believe would be a better fit for you.
